That's why on Saturday, 13 April 2024, you can benefit from low-cost crash courses and workshops for beginners and advanced dancers, as well as from a dance evening in a stylish yet cosy atmosphere and the opportunity to get to know Tanzclub Academia informally and without obligation. We look forward to seeing you!

Cost
We want to celebrate with you and would love to give you the day as a present—but unfortunately our financier thinks the costs are a bit too high. That's why we've agreed on a compromise: We won't offer the programme completely free of charge, but we won't set workshop rates to cover the costs either. Our offer for you:
- Single Workshop (50 Minutes): CHF 15 p. P. (Students and Youths: CHF 10)
- Afternoon Ticket (includes all Workshops): CHF 30 p. P. (Students and Youths: CHF 20)
- Social Dance Evening (SDE): CHF 20 p. P. (Students and Youths: CHF 15)
- Full Day Ticket (all Workshops + SDE): CHF 45 p. P. (Students and Youths: CHF 30)
Note on the number of participants: We endeavour to enable all guests to participate and assume that this will work without any problems. Nevertheless, we reserve the right,
- to limit the number of participants in the workshops so that there is enough space for all participants.
- to limit the number of combination tickets so that there is enough space for all dancers in the evening.
The rule is: first come, first served.
Note for our Active Members: You will receive a discount of CHF 5 on the Full Day Ticket.
Note for our loyal SDE guests with a subscription: Your subscription is of course valid as usual; you will receive a discount of CHF 5 on the Full Day Ticket upon presentation of the subscription. However, this discount is only granted to the holder of the subscription.

Details of the Workshops
Latino Basic – Salsa Cubana: After a brief introduction to the world of Latin dance through merengue, we will learn the basics of what is probably the most typical form of salsa of all: the original Cuban Salsa, also known as “Casino”. As a folk dance that is at home in the (sometimes quite damaged) streets of Havana, the Salsa Cubana is characterised by a great deal of independence from the state of the floor as well as round, flowing movements that find their place wherever Salsa music is heard.
13:00–13:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Axel & Viera.
Social Ballroom Basic – Paso Doble: Many people only know the Paso Doble, if at all, as a sophisticated ballroom dance. In this workshop, we discover that this dance, which is related to flamenco and is a dance interpretation of bullfighting, also fits into a social context. And we discover that the “Social Paso Doble” can be a lot of fun!
14:00–14:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Rolf & Olga.
Social Slow Foxtrott – Basic Social Dancing: Among ballroom dancers, the Slow Foxtrot is considered the most difficult standard dance. But the beautiful music still invites you to join in the Sunday dance stroll—what now? Well, dancing of course! In this workshop, we will learn various dance elements that go well with the music of the Slow Foxtrot (and almost any other music in 4/4 time), but are nowhere near the technical demands of a Ballroom Slow Foxtrot.
15:00–15:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Rolf & Olga.
Tango Argentino for Beginners: Many well-known phrases describe this dance that originated in the Rio de la Plata, including one by Carlo Labin: “Tango is two serious faces and four legs that have fun.” In this workshop, we will discover with “Tango Argentino Pope” [↗ dance! magazine] Rolf Schneider the basics of this dance, which is based entirely on joint interpretation of the music as well as tactile communication in the lead.
16:00–16:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Rolf & Olga.
Social Ballroom Basic – English Tango: At the beginning of the 20th century, the Tango came to Europe with travellers from Buenos Aires—where it was considered “wild” and “offensive”. After being adapted to the accepted standard dances by British choreographers, the Tango soon spread worldwide. In this workshop we will familiarise ourselves with the characteristics and various basic elements of the European and English interpretation of Tango.
17:00–17:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Rolf & Olga.
Latino Basic – Cha-cha-chá a lo Cubano: The Cha Cha Cha is probably primarily known today in its social or competitive form as part of the Latin American dances, but the Cha Cha Cha also originally comes from Latin America, more precisely from Cuba. In this workshop we will look at the Cha-cha-chá as a brother of the Salsa Cubana and learn its basic characteristics and some basic figures.
17:00–17:50 h, Zwingli-Saal. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Axel & Viera.
Social Ballroom Basic – English Waltz: Right after the Viennese Waltz, the Slow Waltz (or English Waltz) is probably the fairytale or princess dance. In this workshop we get to know its basic elements and discover one of the most popular ballroom dances.
18:00–18:50 h, Saal vorne. No previous knowledge necessary. Teachers: Rolf & Olga.
Social Ballroom – Dancing on Crowded Floors (English Waltz): Now you've learnt to dance, you go to a dance event—and find yourself confronted with a fairly crowded floor. A situation that most dancers have certainly already experienced. In this workshop, we will look at variations and ways of skilfully dealing with this situation and seeing it more as an exciting challenge than a nuisance. We will look at the topic using the English Waltz as an example.
18:00–18:50 h, Zwingli-Saal. Basic knowledge of English Waltz desirable. Teachers: Axel & Viera.
